Myanmar recently legalized gambling. But residents cannot play just yet. The new law allows casinos to work as a service industry for tourists. Locals can own casinos, work for them, but they get a five-year sentence for throwing the dice. This was a result of seeing the positive impact of the industry elsewhere.
The country allows both on and offline gambling, but they seem to give more emphasis to brick and motor casinos. And it's easy to see why. Regulating physical casinos is easier than keeping tabs on online gaming. That has left a nice, big loophole for Myanmar residents to enjoy their favorite casino games.
